A spectacular box set comprising 9 CDs and 2 DVDs, printed in 300 numbered copies, documents the Japanese tour that Rory Gallagher starred in in 1974 with a series of interesting corollaries: the highlight of the program is represented by the shows of January 23rd '74 at the Yubin-Chokin Hall in Tokyo, of January 25th and 26th at the Nakano Sunplaza also in Tokyo and of January 27th at the Nagoya-shi Kokaido in Nagoya, a few weeks after the Irish concerts from which the legendary album 'Irish Tour '74' was taken and with the same extraordinary repertoire of electric and stellar blues rock that the bandleader (vocals, guitar, mandolin and harmonica) and his trio composed of bassist Gerry McAvoy, drummer Rod de'Ath and Lou Martin on keyboards draw from the 'Rory Gallagher' albums, 'Deuce' and 'Blueprint' offer blistering versions of classics like 'Messin' With the Kid', 'Cradle Rock', 'Tattoo'd Lady', 'A Million Miles Away', 'Laundromat', 'Hoodoo Man Blues', 'Pistol Slapper Blues', 'Who's That Coming' and 'In Your Town'; another CD features the January 26, 1975, performance at Tokyo's Shibuya Kokaido, while DVDs footage documents the March 7, 1975, performances at Madrid's Teatro Monumental and the August 25, 1980, performance in Zurich for a Swiss television program.
