The Human Beast fue una banda con un sonido oscuro e inquietante que no tuvo éxito pero que puede llegar a hipnotizarnos con su música.
Lo cierto es que los datos sobre el grupo son escasos. Procedían de Edimburgo y se formaron a finales de los 60. La banda estaba formada por John Romsey (batería) , Ed Jones -(bajo, voz ) y  Gillies Buchan (guitarra,voz). Ficharon por DECCA y en 1.970 editaron "Volumen One" teniendo como productor a  Ray Horrics.
Este trío escocés desarrolla una música que se mueve por los caminos de heavy psicodélico. Temas con sonido oscuro donde predomina la guitarra de Gillies Buchan y su abuso del Wah wah, y una notable sección rítmica con un jovencísimo batería, John Romsey, apenas 16 años.  
 
El primer tema, "Mystic Man", es uno de los más destacados. También podemos encontrar ciertos sonido raga en alguno de sus temas, " Appearance Is Everything, Style Is A Way Of Living". Su versión de "Maybe Someday" de  The Incredible String Band, es más que notable.
